Senior Police Officer Completes International Leadership and Ethics Training in the United States
The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the International Officer Leadership and Ethics (IOLE) Course 2026 by Superintendent of Police Junior Simmons.
Superintendent Simmons participated in the three-week training programme, which was held from July 14 to August 7, 2026, at the NETSAFA International Training Center (NITC), Pensacola, Florida, United States.
The IOLE Course is designed to strengthen the leadership, decision-making and ethical competencies of senior military and law enforcement officers operating at the strategic and operational levels.
Superintendent Simmons was among nine (9) senior officers from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Mexico, Jordan, Pakistan and St. Lucia who participated in the programme.
The comprehensive course addressed critical areas of leadership and professional development, including leadership in crisis, leadership styles, tactical thinking, ethical decision-making, human rights, mentoring, public speaking, disciplinary fairness, good order and discipline, moral reasoning and servant leadership.
Participants also engaged in practical and interactive exercises designed to strengthen their ability to analyse complex leadership and ethical challenges and make sound, principled decisions.
As part of the course’s Field Service Programme (FSP), participants visited several significant historical and national institutions, including the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana; the Marine Corps Museum in Virginia; the United States Capitol, the National Mall, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.; and the USS Alabama in Mobile, Alabama.
Reflecting on the training, Superintendent Simmons described the programme as “insightful, transformational and strategic,” noting that it has further enhanced his ability to lead personnel, manage the organizations resources, make effective operational decisions and uphold ethical principles in the discharge of his responsibilities.
He further noted that exposure to international best practices in leadership and ethics will contribute to greater efficiency, accountability and effectiveness within the RSVGPF.
The Commissioner of Police and the RSVGPF continue to place strong emphasis on professional development, ethical leadership and continuous learning, recognising that well-trained and principled leaders are essential to maintaining public confidence and delivering effective policing services.
