Cashier Charged with Stealing Over $60,000 from Retiree; Vendor Faces Assault Charge
The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has announced charges in two separate criminal matters, including a major theft case involving tens of thousands of dollars and a domestic assault incident.
Benjamin Enemchukwu, a 43-year-old cashier residing in Belair, appeared before the Calliaqua Magistrate Court on August 11, 2026, to face five counts of theft. Investigations revealed that Enemchukwu allegedly stole a total of $62,952.70 ECC from a 79-year-old retired engineer, also of Belair.
The alleged thefts occurred in Kingstown over several months between late 2023 and early 2024:
- November 23–29, 2023: $3,831.49 ECC
- December 24–28, 2023: $11,750.00 ECC
- January 3–31, 2024: $20,055.70 ECC
- February 7–28, 2024: $18,160.28 ECC
- March 7–21, 2024: $9,155.23 ECC
Enemchukwu pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was granted bail in the sum of $5,000.00 ECC with one surety.
His release is subject to several conditions, including reporting to the Central Police Station every Monday through Friday and surrendering all travel documents.
Additionally, stop notices have been issued at all ports of entry and exit. The case has been transferred to the Kingstown Magistrate Court for a hearing on September 8, 2026.
Vendor Charged with Broom Assault
In a separate incident, police arrested Keron Williams, a 35-year-old vendor from Chateaubelair, on August 10, 2026. Williams has been charged with assault following an investigation into an incident on July 14, 2026.
It is alleged that Williams struck a 35-year-old businesswoman from the same community on her left hand with a broom, causing actual bodily harm. Williams was granted station bail in the sum of $1,000.00 ECC and is scheduled to answer the charge at the Chateaubelair Magistrate Court on August 12, 2026
