Across the Caribbean, young people live in different circumstances, yet they share many of the same aspirations to access quality education and healthcare, make informed decisions, and build brighter futures.

As the Region marks International Youth Day 2026 under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” the Reproductive Education and Adolescent Health Community (REACH) Project is transforming these shared aspirations into meaningful action. Through targeted interventions, the project is equipping young people with the knowledge, services, and resources they need to make informed choices about their health and well-being.

International Youth Day is observed annually on 12 August.

Working closely with Ministries of Health in its Member States – Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines – and partners – Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States and Caribbean Technical Assistance and Education Centre for Health – the REACH Project is strengthening adolescent health across the Caribbean.

The REACH Project recently launched a series of webinars to address key topics including reproductive health, mental health, nutrition, healthy relationships, and effective parent-teen communication.  These sessions have created safe spaces for adolescents, parents, educators, healthcare providers, and community leaders to engage in open dialogue on issues affecting young people’s well-being.

Between March and May 2026, the Project delivered orientation training to more than 138 representatives from Ministries of Health and civil society organisations. Participants received training on sexual and reproductive health, anti-stigma approaches, adolescent strengths, and understanding the developing teenage brain.

Recognising that adolescent well-being extends beyond education and awareness, the REACH Project also funded the distribution of 500 hygiene kits to schools across Saint Lucia. This initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition, provided adolescents’ access to essential hygiene supplies.

By strengthening youth-friendly services, building the capacity of key stakeholders, and addressing the practical needs of adolescents, the REACH Project is helping to create healthier and more supportive environments for young people across the Caribbean.

Investing in young people today is an investment in stronger communities, more resilient societies, and a brighter future for the Region.
