POLICE INTERCEPT ARMED MAN IN KINGSTOWN; GLOCK PISTOL AND AMMUNITION SEIZED
In the middle of a busy Saturday afternoon in Kingstown, officers of the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), operating under the Force’s intensified crime-fighting strategy, intercepted a man who was subsequently found allegedly carrying an unlicensed Glock pistol and ammunition.
The operation resulted in the recovery of one Glock 19 pistol and six rounds of 9mm ammunition and the subsequent arrest and charging of Stern Soleyn, 28, a labourer of Arnos Vale.
According to the charges, at approximately 3:30 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, Soleyn allegedly had in his possession the firearm and ammunition in Kingstown without licences issued under the Firearms Act.
He was formally arrested and charged on Sunday, August 23, 2026, with possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of unlicensed ammunition.
The Force’s current crime strategy places increased emphasis on intelligence-led policing, targeted interventions, stronger operational coordination, heightened vigilance and sustained pressure on the possession and movement of illegal firearms.
The recovery in Kingstown represents that strategy in action.
The RSVGPF will not surrender the streets, communities or public spaces of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to persons who choose to arm themselves unlawfully.
Our police officers are Vincentians. We live here. Our families live here. Our children are being raised here. We therefore have as much invested in the peace and security of this country as the citizens we have sworn to protect.
We will continue to use every lawful means available to prevent crime, recover illegal firearms, identify persons involved in criminal activity and place accused persons before the courts where the evidence supports criminal charges.
But the police cannot win this fight alone.
We need the public.
The RSVGPF recognises that trust between the police and sections of the community must continue to be strengthened. We accept that responsibility. At the same time, we are asking citizens who know where illegal firearms are being kept, who know who is carrying them, or who possess information about planned or committed criminal activity to help us act before another life is lost.
