184 Haitian nationals were repatriated to Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, during a coordinated immigration enforcement operation involving New Providence, Inagua and Haiti.
The operation began with a Bahamasair flight departing New Providence for Inagua carrying 29 detainees.
Upon arriving in Inagua, an additional 71 detainees boarded the aircraft, bringing the total number of people on that flight to 100.
The aircraft then proceeded to Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, where all 100 detainees were disembarked.
The aircraft subsequently returned to Inagua to collect the remaining 84 Haitian nationals.
It then made a second trip to Cap-Haïtien, where the remaining detainees were disembarked, completing the repatriation exercise.
Minister of State for Immigration Darron Pickstock said the operation demonstrated the government’s continued commitment to enforcing the country’s immigration laws in an organized and accountable manner.
“Today’s repatriation exercise demonstrates that our immigration laws are enforced in a manner that is organized, accountable, and consistent with established procedures,” Pickstock said.
