Air Canada has announced a major extension to its Middle East flight cancellations, suspending its service between Toronto and Dubai until at least the end of March 2027. The decision leaves Canada’s national airline without active flights to any destination in the Middle East regio.
In an official travel update, Air Canada cited ongoing safety and operational evaluations following regional instability that began after military strikes in February 2026. Airline officials confirmed that decisions regarding route suspensions follow a thorough review of the regional security environment.
Prior to the disruption, Air Canada operated daily flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Dubai International Airport (DXB) utilizing a 298-passenger Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. While the carrier previously offered seasonal service from Vancouver, its Toronto route remained its sole active service to the United Arab Emirates heading into 2026.
Air Canada’s decision aligns with broader international carrier responses to regional security conditions. Major U.S. carriers, including American Airlines and United Airlines, have similarly pushed restart schedules for routes to Dubai and Doha into March 2027. European airlines such as British Airways and KLM have also repeatedly revised or canceled Middle Eastern schedules throughout 2026.
For travelers moving between Canada and the UAE, regional carriers Emirates and Etihad remain the primary operators, continuing direct flights connecting Toronto and Montreal to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
