The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services is advising residents and motorists to prepare for increasing moisture, persistent showers, and heightened thunderstorm activity heading into the weekend.
Moisture levels are projected to increase over the coming days, maintaining light-to-moderate rain and intermittent showers.
Thunderstorm activity is expected to pick up across the islands as the weekend approaches. The meteorological office has issued an official “Be alert” Weather Advisory for Saturday, October 10.
Officials specifically caution residents and motorists situated near rivers and streams, as well as those in areas prone to landslides and flash flooding, to remain alert and prepared. No formal weather warnings are in effect for Thursday or Friday.
The region is currently in the midst of its annual Hurricane and Wet Season, which spans from June through November. Historical data notes that the highest monthly rainfall totals for St. Vincent and the Grenadines typically occur during October and November.
