The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Conservation Fund (SVGCF) is pleased to announce the launch of its second annual Independence Poster Competition under the theme “Guardians of the Blue: Protecting Our Marine Heritage.” The competition invites primary and secondary school students across St. Vincent and the Grenadines to showcase their creativity while highlighting the importance of protecting the country’s marine and coastal ecosystems.

Building on the success of its inaugural competition in 2025, SVGCF is returning this year with a renewed focus on marine conservation, environmental education and national pride. The initiative aims to encourage young Vincentians to explore the natural beauty of their country and consider the role they can play in safeguarding its marine resources for future generations.

This year’s competition is supported by returning sponsors Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG) and Acado SVG, distributor of the Dutch Lady brand, alongside new sponsors GECCU Limited and St. Vincent Breweries Limited. Students are required to create artwork that demonstrates the importance of marine life in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and features at least one significant local marine site or landscape.  Each poster must also incorporate at least two real marine or coastal elements, such as sand, shells, smooth sea stones, dried seagrass or natural coral fragments. The competition is open to students in two categories:

●      Primary School: Grades 4–6

●      Secondary School: Forms 1–5

All physical posters must be submitted at the SVG Conservation Fund office, located at Ground Floor, Beache Building, corner of Lower Long Lane and Higginson Street, Kingstown by Friday, November 6th deadline. Further details on submission requirements, prizes and the competition’s judging process will be shared through SVGCF’s official communication channels.
