St. Vincent and the Grenadines Unveils New Tourism Brand Identity
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) unveiled the destination’s new tourism brand identity at the Independence Rally on October 27, celebrating the volcanic landscapes, vibrant cultural traditions and island studded seas that that make our islands a place like no other.
Rooted in the country’s heritage and inspired by its people, the identity brings the experiences of St. Vincent and the Grenadines together under one powerful invitation: SET YOUR SPIRIT FREE.
The new identity was developed through a collaborative process that combined agency expertise with insights from Vincentian stakeholders through a focus group which examined what felt authentic to the destination and where further development was needed to ensure the vision was refined and the identity and distinctiveness of St. Vincent and the Grenadines was evident.
Reflecting on the local contributions and the significance of the unveiling, Chief Executive Officer of the SVGTA, Shafia London, said “this is a proud moment for St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Our new tourism identity carries so much of who we are, the strength of our landscapes, the depth of our heritage and the sea that connects our islands. Unveiling it as we celebrate our independence gives that expression even greater meaning and affirms that our tourism story begins with us. We want Vincentians, at home and abroad, to recognise their home in this identity and feel proud to share it. Our invitation to the world, ‘SET YOUR SPIRIT FREE’, comes from that deep sense of belonging and our desire to share what makes these islands extraordinary.”
At the heart of the new brand identity are three pillars: Nature and Adventure, Culture and Celebration, and Marine Paradise. Together, they express the richness of a destination where visitors can explore rainforest trails, connect with living traditions and set sail between islands, discovering the people and stories that give each experience its meaning.
The logo’s imagery brings these three pillars into one connected scene. For Nature and Adventure, celebrating the freedom to explore and reconnect with the natural world is represented through a mountain echoing La Soufrière’s volcanic profile and a cascading waterfall with birds in flight.
Culture and Celebration is represented through a glyph inspired by the carved stone at Layou Petroglyph Park, honouring the Indigenous peoples who first inhabited the islands. Within the contemporary design, its smiling expression also reflects the warmth, humour and enduring energy of Vincentian people. It connects ancestral roots with a culture that continues to flourish through music, festivals, food, craft and everyday community life.
The sea, sailboat, island silhouettes and sun reflect Marine Paradise, capturing the maritime character of a destination of 32 islands and cays. These elements celebrate sailing traditions, the freedom of exploring by sea and the waters that sustain connections between island communities. They evoke both the excitement of discovering what lies beyond the horizon and the pleasure of slowing down beside the water.
Framing these elements are three diamond shaped outlines drawing inspiration from the diamonds on the national flag. Their angular forms also echo homes raised on posts across Vincentian hillsides, bringing a familiar sense of home into the design.
The custom font used for both St. Vincent and the Grenadines gives a strong, balanced presence. Its flowing forms convey warmth and movement, while the exaggerated arches of the “n” letters acknowledge Kingstown’s familiar distinction as the City of Arches. A wider palette draws on the destination’s seas, forests, sunshine, flowers, sunsets and contrasting shores. The identity gives the SVGTA a shared visual language for presenting the destination to the world and connecting its tourism communications with experiences that are distinctly Vincentian.
Unveiled on a day of national celebration, the new tourism brand identity carries forward a pride shaped by history and a love for the place we call home. From the mountain trails and waterfalls of our interior to the music, traditions and celebrations of our communities, and across the turquoise waters that weave between the Grenadines, where sheltered bays give way to endless blue horizons, it honours a country whose character is felt as deeply as it is seen. For Vincentians at home and abroad, it is an opportunity to see our home represented with confidence and to share its story with pride. For the world, it is an invitation to experience our islands, connect with our people, discover what moves you and SET YOUR SPIRIT FREE.
