Government officials, ministry representatives, and community members gathered to honor St. Lucia’s oldest living citizen, Philomen Eldica Nicholas, on her 112th birthday.

The milestone celebration highlighted her remarkable longevity, with local representatives expressing immense pride in honoring the constituency’s and island’s longest-living resident.

Officials from the Division of Older Persons and the Department of Equity, Social Justice, Gender, and Older Persons attended the event to deliver official tributes and presentations.

A bouquet of flowers was presented on behalf of the Government of St. Lucia and Minister Emma Hippolyte.

An additional floral arrangement was presented on behalf of Permanent Secretary Esther Rigobert of the Department of Equity. Representatives also delivered a commemorative birthday card signed by heads of department across the ministry.

As part of an ongoing social partnership honoring local centenarians, retail partner Massy provided a special care package filled with essential household supplies, alongside $200 in Massy shopping vouchers. The corporate initiative specifically supports St. Lucian residents who have reached 100 years of age and beyond.

Attendees concluded the event with prayers and blessings, extending a warm invitation for family, friends, and supporters to gather again next year to celebrate Miss Elica’s 113th birthday.
