The legal challenge surrounding the recent general election is entering its final stages, with key judicial deadlines now established for written and oral arguments in the High Court.
Speaking on Star Radio, Unity Labour Party (ULP) politician and commentator Luke Browne outlined the upcoming schedule for the election petitions case, emphasizing its potential significance for the nation’s political landscape.
Commending the legal team representing the petitioners—specifically highlighting the work of ULP legal team member Carlos James—Browne outlined the structured schedule leading up to the court’s final judgment:
November 4: Official deadline for counsel on all sides to file their written legal submissions.
Week of November 9 (November 10): Commencement of oral arguments before the presiding judge in court.
Judicial Deliberation: Following the conclusion of oral submissions, the court will enter formal deliberations before delivering a binding decision.
Browne noted that despite the New Democratic Party (NDP) securing a 14–1 parliamentary majority, the pending legal challenge holds “great ability to destabilize” the administration. He argued that the court’s eventual ruling could alter the current political balance, leaving the governing administration in a far more precarious position than its seat tally suggests.
In light of the court schedule, Browne urged political supporters to remain mobilized and prepared for any outcomes that may arise once the High Court hands down its ruling.
