The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is weighing the adoption of a digital border management system currently in use in Saint Kitts and Nevis, aiming to modernize entry processing and improve the overall visitor experience.

Speaking on the New Times radio programme, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development, Dr. the Honourable Kishore Shallow, disclosed that the software vendor has already made a formal presentation to Cabinet. Describing the platform as a leading Caribbean application solution, Shallow indicated that the country is poised to adopt the technology in the near future.

A digital border management framework utilizes electronic systems to collect and process passenger data before and during travel, enabling faster arrival clearance while providing national security and immigration authorities with improved screening capabilities.

The evaluation process has included an on-site assessment by a Vincentian delegation that traveled to Saint Kitts and Nevis. The team was led by Michelle Forbes, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry responsible for National Security, Immigration and Disaster Management, alongside the Chief Immigration Officer. Shallow noted that he also reviewed the system’s front-end and back-end operations earlier this year.

The proposal forms part of the Ministry of Tourism’s wider Love SVG 100 Projects initiative, which seeks to upgrade the country’s tourism product across transport, hospitality, and heritage infrastructure. While other projects target physical sites, the digital border solution focuses specifically on modernizing arrival administration.

A final Cabinet decision and contract award have not yet been announced, and the government has not released details regarding total cost, financing, implementation timelines, or data protection frameworks.
