S.L. Horsford & Co. Ltd. has officially expanded the automotive landscape in the Federation with the launch of the GAC brand and its AION electric vehicle (EV) lineup through Horsford’s Automotive.

The introduction was unveiled on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the company’s Wellington Road showroom in Basseterre, positioning Horsford’s as the authorised local dealer for GAC.

The launch aligns with national sustainable energy goals following the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis’ policy decision—championed by Hon. Konris Maynard, Minister of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities—to lower import duties on qualifying fully electric vehicles from 45 percent to 10 percent, effective May 1, 2026.

The new vehicle range directly complements the government’s Decarbonised Roadway Initiative for Vehicle Electrification (DRIVE), designed to accelerate electric mobility and decrease dependence on imported fossil fuels.

Horsford’s expanded portfolio includes a mix of all-electric models, modern SUVs, and fuel-efficient petrol vehicles:

  • Electric Models: GAC AION V, the premium GAC HYPTEC HT, and the compact AION UT.
  • Petrol Models & SUVs: GAC GS3 EMZOOM and the GAC EMKOO.

The lineup features comprehensive warranty packages, including an eight-year or 160,000-kilometre vehicle warranty, as well as an EV battery warranty extending up to 200,000 kilometres, subject to model terms and conditions.

Wallis Wilkin, Group Marketing Manager for the Horsford’s Group of Companies, emphasized that the rollout brings emerging global vehicle technology directly to local drivers.

“The Government has taken an important step by reducing the import duties on electric vehicles, and Horsford’s Automotive is responding by bringing exciting new electric vehicle options to our local market,” Wilkin stated. He noted that the initiative focuses on broadening customer choice and shaping cleaner, next-generation transportation throughout the Federation.
