18-year-old Osbert Rodney, a resident of Edinboro who was arrested and charged for the offence of attempted murder on the life of 52-year-old Christopher Wilson of the same address this year, is now facing a more severe charge of murder.

Rodney is reported to have inflicted a blow to the head of Wilson on the date in question during a fracas at a liquor and provision shop at Edinboro.

Following the incident, Wilson was admitted as a patient at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital nursing the injury but was subsequently transferred to the Intensive Care Unit where he succumbed to the injury.

Rodney was on Thursday, October 12th escorted to the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne facing the indictable charge to which he was not allowed to enter a plea.

As a result, Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delpesche withdrew the original charge of attempted murder.

Rodney was ordered to be detained at Her Majesty’s Prison until January 23rd, 2018 when the Preliminary is expected to commence.

Some 16 witnesses are expected to appear for the Prosecution.
