There is a need for more female domestic workers here in SVG to get registered with the National Insurance Services (NIS).
Prime Minister Gonsalves speaking on WEFM last week said, statistics from the NIS show that about 650 persons who work in households are registered with the NIS.
Gonsalves said greater attention needs to be paid to addressing this important issue, and is encouraging domestic workers to check the NIS to make sure that they are registered.
According to statistics from the NIS, domestic work, a field dominated by females, is underrepresented in the active registrants at the NIS.
