21 years old Darvan Francis originally from High Wickham in London, England who fled his homeland and came to St. Vincent on September 9th, 2015 after Francis along with three other males inflicted multiple stab wounds to the body of Wa’ays Dhaye of Slough, Berkshire which resulted in Dhaye’s death at Berkshire on August 31st, 2015 has been detained at Her Majesty’s Prison in Kingstown to await his extradition to England to face trial on three separate charges of murder and manslaughter.
This decision came at the conclusion of an extradition hearing on Thursday May 10th, at the Serious Offences Court by Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne.
The extradition hearing stemmed from a request which came to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force from the Law Enforcement Office in London via diplomatic channels at the British High Commission Office in Barbados on January 30th, 2017.
As a result a warrant for the arrest of Darvan Francis was issued and was executed at his Penniston resident in January 2018.
The Court heard that Francis along with his three male friends along with the deceased went to the Notting Hill Carnival on 30th August , 2015 during which time an argument ensued over something that was published on social media by one of the parties but the presence of the police at the event adverted an altercation between the men.
Following the event the accused men left the seen in a motor vehicle and proceed to the area where the deceased Dhaye lived to await his arrival, he was killed in Thurston Road as he walked home from Slough Railway Station on August 31, 2015.
