Deputy Prime Minister Sir Louis Straker will lead a delegation to Taiwan in May for the official swearing in of President Elect of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Tsai Ing-wen.

Tsai Ing-wen, leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), won 56.1% of the vote in the general election in January, to become the first female president.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves made the disclosure this morning at a News Conference at Cabinet Room, following his recent return from Belize where he and four other Caribbean leaders met with Taiwan’s outgoing President Ma Ying-jeou.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also announced that the sitting of the House of Parliament that was slated to take place this Thursday March 24th has been postponed to Tuesday April 5th.
