A half holiday has been declared by the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines for the opening of the Georgetown Medical Complex on Monday, July 2nd, 2018.

The half holiday will be for all public servants except those who work in the essential services and are on duty.

Minister of Health Luke Browne told parliament on Thursday morning that the complex would be the first in the state to carry out hemodialysis.

Hemodialysis, also spelt haemodialysis, commonly called kidney dialysis or simply dialysis, is a process of purifying the blood of a person whose kidneys are not working normally.

Between the years 2015 – 2016 some 53 persons died from kidney failure, Browne said the opening of the Complex spells new hope for Kidney patients.

The complex was built at a cost of USD 22 Million dollars.
