St Vincent – Japan Summit Meeting Hailed A Success

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves has hailed his recent trip to the Asian country of Japan a success.

Gonsalves on Monday 13th August told the media that he met and had discussions with a number of heads of organizations and government officials in while in Japan.

Among them is, Meeting with the President of the Association For Promotion and International Co-operation.

Japan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ken Saito and The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Meetings were also held with, Acting President of JICA, a  summit meeting with Shinzo Abe Japan’s Prime Minister, and a breakfast meeting with the  Japan Friendship Parliamentary League.

Gonsalves said a proposal has been submitted to Japan for the new Black Fish Enhancement Project at Barrouallie for US 1.8 Million.

He said new medical equipment would soon arrive in the state from Japan including, Four operating tables, Anesthetic machine along with parts, and Lung ventilators among others.

Gonsalves also stated that in the area of transport a range of equipment for roadworks was also sought.

He said the government has made a request for help in the control of Sargassum Seaweed, help in the area of renewable energy and also in the refurbishing of the Little Tokyo Bus Terminal.

A technical team from Japan would be in the state to consult on the way forward with the refurbishing of Little Tokyo.
