The Peace Corps volunteers to St Vincent and the Grenadines have been removed from the island.

Last Week News784 was informed that the volunteers left the island for St Lucia.

No information was forthcoming from the local office here, and the head office in Washington DC did not respond to our emails or phone calls.

The US Embassy in Barbados told us on Monday 27th August that they were airlifted from the island due to a specific safety reason,  such reason was not told to News784.

Purely diplomatic language. The question is what is the “specific safety reason”. Is it a threat? Is it imminent? What is the source? Is it from inside or outside? Are we being targeted?  This is new and strange and scary.

The Peace Corps is celebrating 51 years of service in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

They began service here in 1967.
