Met Office Update: Tropical Depression “11” & Tropical Storm Kirk

Tropical Depression “11” was located near latitude 13.6 North; longitude 53.9 West, or 480 miles east of the Windward Islands with a movement towards the west near 3 mph. Depression “11” is forecast to dissipate before it reaches the islands.

However, shower activity associated with the remnants of this system are likely across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines overnight Sunday into Monday.

Additionally, at 5 pm, Tropical Storm Kirk was centred near latitude 8.6 North; longitude 24.8 West, or 2490 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. 

“Kirk ” is moving towards the west north-west near 15 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. Some strengthening is possible during the next few days.

On the present forecast track, the center of this system is forecast to approach SVG by late next week.

All residents are advised to keep informed on the progress of Tropical Storm Kirk and pay close attention to the information being issued by Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services.
