MOH Says Audio Clip About Coronavirus In SVG Is Absolutely False

1 Min Read

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment is aware of an audio clip making the rounds in which an individual purporting to be a member of its staff said that the coronavirus is in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

There is absolutely no truth to this rumour. There remain no cases of coronavirus in this country to date. The Ministry is, of course, taking all necessary precautions to minimise the chance of coronavirus entering the country.

The Caribbean Public Health Agency said that the risk that this virus poses to the Caribbean is low.

The Ministry is discouraging travel to and from China and anyone who arrives in this country has been to China within 14 days prior to arrival here will be quarantined.

Currently, 17 persons are under quarantine as a precautionary measure. Additionally, a local health facility is being adapted so that it can be used as an isolation facility if necessary.

The Ministry repeats – there are no cases of coronavirus in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Thank you.
