UPDATE: Minibus Services Across SVG Withdrawn From 8-20 April

3 Min Read

VINTAS continue to register support for the efforts of Government in its attempt to prevent the community spread of the COVID-19 virus, commonly called the Novel Corona Virus.

VINTAS, with the recognition that our members are on the frontline of this exposure and are most at risk, considered the following in its deliberations:

1. The recently announced 6 new cases of COVID-19
2. The vast number of quarantined persons to date
3. The expansive contact tracing being conducted by the Ministry of Health as it relates to
one of the cases
4. The plea of the Government for all citizens and business to do what they can to limit the
spread of the virus and
5. The impact of our decision on the essential workers

Our membership concluded that to support the measures recommended by the Ministry of Health geared towards improving social distancing and curbing the spread of COVID-19, we must act responsibly.

Therefore, and notwithstanding the importance of our members’ services to the continuation of limited economic activities, the meeting unanimously decided that in order to reduce the exposure of VINTA’s members to contracting the COVID-19 virus, suspending our services effective Wednesday, April 8th, 2020 was in the best interest of all
Vincentians.

We shall assess the situation on or before April 20th, 2020 and communicate accordingly.

It is important to note that our decision to withdraw our services is predicated on the safety of our membership, the travelling public and all Vincentians.

VINTAS wishes to advise the travelling public to make alternative transportation arrangements were necessary, and only where it necessary.

VINTAS goal is to do its part with the government and people of SVG in the best management of this pandemic and is appreciative of the commitment the Government has made to the minibus sector in recognition of the effects of COVID-19.

We wish to advise all Vincentians to follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and in particular that of social distancing.
