Seafarers and Oilrig workers in St.Vincent and the Grenadines will have some of their financial burden alleviated by the Government, starting in August when the first payment of $300 is made to them.
Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves said :
“You know I had raised the issue here about two weeks ago, I was reflecting on the question of providing the same level of resources for the sailors who are home, the seafarers from the cruise ships and also the persons from the oilrigs and to have them go through the NIS but financed by the government for a similar payment of $300 monthly in order to help them ease the matter of their own unemployment.”
onsalves says that this support will be given for the next three months in the first instance starting in August and ending in October.
