The NDP’s Candidate for East Kingstown Fitz Bramble Says when he does house to house campaigning in East Kingstown, at almost every house there is an employable young person at home.
Bramble says about 1 in every 2 young people in SVG is without a job.
He says about 50 per cent of homes in SVG are headed by women, yet there is a 30 per cent women unemployment rate.
Bramble says in addition to that 48.2 per cent of the population lives at or below the poverty line.

“ It means therefore that some 50,000 persons in this country are living on 420 EC dollars per month or less”.
“ This also means they are earning 14 dollars per day, not Fitz Bramble saying it, it is UNICEF and all the international financial agencies”
The NDP’s candidate says to add insult to injury, the economy of SVG is the worst in the OECS, with less than 2 per cent GDP growth.
Bramble however that not state for which year the numbers were akin too.
“ As an economist, I understand what this means, and the people of SVG understand it as well”, Bramble said.
Data from the ECCB showed that for 2020 all countries in the currency union are showing negative GDP so far.
