Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves visited a number of areas across the country on Thursday 29th September 2016 following the passage of Tropical Storm Matthew.
The Tropical storm pounded the island late Wednesday 28th September into early morning hours of Thursday 29th September 2016.
Following the All Clear on Thursday 29th, September Prime Minister Gonsalves visited shelters and homes across the country to assess the damages caused by the Tropical Storm.
Preliminary reports on the impacts of the Tropical Storm Mathew showed that one individual a 16-year-old became the storms first victim, one was person injured and one left homeless.The report also shows that some 462 persons (177 children and 285 adults) are residents of Emergency Shelters.
Prime Minister Gonsalves also visited the mother of Kenron Antoine, the teenager who died in Layou on Wednesday night during the Storm.
The report on the impact of the storm also showed that one house was destroyed and 28 damaged. Assessments are on-going and these numbers are expected to increase.
