The head of the St Vincent and the Grenadines police force confirmed on Wednesday that the search is still on to locate a member of the Royal Police Force of Antigua & Barbuda who is facing allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Police Commissioner Renold Hadaway said the alleged perpetrator arrived on the island on October 2 on LIAT flight 771 but has not been located.
“What is strange about his arrival is that, according to information, he resides in one particular location, but upon entry in the country he placed a different address on the Immigration Card. We are investigating whether he is residing in the stated location or in the location that we were told,” Hadaway said.
He also said measures will be implemented at the main port of entries in St Vincent in the event the accused attempts to leave that island.
“We are following the investigation as it unfolds, but equally we would want to ensure that not much time lapses and he does not get an opportunity to flee the jurisdiction,” Hadaway said.
An arrest warrant was issued for the police officer following allegations that he abducted and raped a 13-year-old girl.
He fled the country days after a report was filed with the force.
