Aecon, the contractor for the Kingstown Port Modernization Project, hosted a neighbourhood children’s party for some of the project’s affected neighbours.
Aecon stated in a press release that it “took corporate responsibility seriously by hosting a neighbourhood children’s party on Saturday, December 16.”
The Christmas party was hosted next to the work site at the Kingstown Anglican School.
“The residents of Rose Place are the people most affected by the port project, and supporting the community neighbouring the development is important,” according to the firm.
“Despite the rain, fifty (50) children attended the event.” “The kids had hot dogs, popcorn, and soft drinks, and they went home with bags of candy and other surprises,” the business claimed.
The highlight of the party, according to Aecon, was a visit from Santa, who brought unique Christmas gifts from the North Pole (via Canada).
“Aecon employees, working in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and in the Canadian corporate office, volunteered their time to make the day a special one for Rose Place and Lowmans Bay children,” according to the press release.
The Kingstown Port Modernization Project will cost more than 600 million Eastern Caribbean dollars (XCD).
