- Gerrman Tourist dies while biking in SVG (St Vincent)
An individual of German nationality passed away on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent during a cycling excursion with his sibling in close proximity to the main city, Kingstown, on Friday afternoon.
Mattias Thormaehlen, a passenger on the AIDA Perla was declared deceased at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, the primary healthcare facility on the island, following urgent transportation under police escort.
Mattias and his brother Oliver were cycling up on Casson Hill when Mattias experienced chest discomfort. Oliver stopped Ariel Gibson’s vehicle, coincidentally, Gibson happens to be a physician.
Prior to transportation to the hospital, the individual received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the site of Casson Hill. CPR failed to revive him.
Acting Prime Minister Saboto Caesar stated to the St. Vincent Times on Friday afternoon that Dr. Ariel Gibson exceeded the expected responsibilities.
“While driving to Kingstown, she observed the situation and promptly halted to provide assistance until they reached the emergency room. I would like to acknowledge her diligent efforts and exceptional competence in her attempt to save the life of the visitor.”
According to Caesar’s statement to the St. Vincent Times, a medical student from St. James University, who is also a member of the Red Cross, made a sincere effort to perform CPR. Additionally, cab operator Imnah Thomas played a crucial role in swiftly bringing the visitor to the hospital with the assistance of a police escort.
An emergency meeting was convened on the ship early this evening, attended by the acting prime minister and ship authorities.
