Air Canada Rouge Planning A Return To The Caribbean Island Of St Vincent In The Third Quarter Of 2021
(By Ernesto Cooke) – Air Canada, the flag carrier and Canada’s largest airline, is expected to resume flights to St Vincent and the Grenadines in the third quarter of 2021.
The airline had suspended flights to the island in the wake of Canada’s federal government’s global travel advisory on COVID- 19.
Air Canada media relations told NEWS784 on Monday, May 25, that the airline is planning to resume service to St. Vincent on Sept. 13, 2021.
The airline plans to resume service to the island with a weekly flight operated by Air Canada Rouge on an Airbus A321.
“We will continue to evaluate and adjust our route network as required in response to the trajectory of the pandemic and travel restrictions,” media relations said.
Air Canada has recorded a net loss of $4.647 billion for 2020 in the wake of the pandemic that has devastated airlines worldwide.
The net cash burn rate for 2020 is staggering: $4.672 billion, or approximately $13 million per day, on average.
Previously Air Canada operated two flights into St Vincent on Thursdays and Sundays out of Pearson International Airport in Toronto.
