On Thursday, April 18, 2024, Ambassador Bowman thoroughly enjoyed her afternoon at Nanshan High School in New Taipei City.
First, she met with the school’s principal, Mr. Michael Tsai, to whom she donated two copies of Peggy Carr’s novel, ‘Shape of a Warrior’: one for the school’s library and one for the ‘English Department’.
This was followed by the ambassador’s presentation of a lecture on comparative Vincentian poetry to a bilingual class of 10th–12th graders.
The poems ‘Volcano Suite’ by E. ‘Shake’ Keane and ‘BOOM’ and ‘Exodus’ by N.C. Marks were used.
Next, there was classroom interaction with an ESL class of 7th graders (409), followed by the ambassador’s shooting hoops on the basketball court!
