- ANTIGUA CRUISE PORT CELEBRATES RECORD-BREAKING 15,000 PASSENGERS IN ONE DAY
On Tuesday, March 12th, Antigua Cruise Port (ACP) made history, welcoming an astounding 15,808 passengers into Antigua Cruise Port five cruise ships into St. John’s and a sixth ship into Falmouth Harbour. Enchanted Princess, Costa Serena, Costa Pacifica, Aida Perla, and Explorer of the Seas cruised into the capital while Sea Dream II made its way to Falmouth Harbour in Barbuda. Combined, the six ships delivered an astounding 15,808 passengers to the twin-island nation.
This record was achieved as the port team approaches the end of an extremely successful homeporting season, with P & O Cruises Arvia, Emerald Sakara, Royal Clipper, and SeaDream Yacht Club selecting Antigua Cruise Port as their home port of choice. In January 2023, ACP received four home port calls for P & O Cruises Arvia. This season, ACP operated twenty-four home port calls and will end the season with twenty-seven turns.
ACP also recorded 309 transit calls to date – 34 calls more than during the same period last season.
Financial Controller and Officer-In-Charge, Cynthia Jacobs Browne, celebrated the news with her ecstatic team. “With these incredible passenger numbers, we are on our way to achieving another record-breaking goal – welcoming over 800,000 passengers to Antigua & Barbuda by December 2024. To date, we have received 299,803 guests for the year and expect to have welcomed over 400,000 guests by the end of the season in April.”
She continued, “We must thank our port and cruise community, including the port authority, harbour pilots, stevedores, tenants, taxi drivers, tour operators, tourism partners, and the hardworking Antigua Cruise Port team for making this day flow so seamlessly. We are enormously proud to work with all our collaborators on such a historic achievement and forward to breaking more records soon!”
The ACP team celebrated another six-ship day on March 19th and anticipates a five-ship day on March 26th.
