Ban On Styrofoam begins January 31st

An outright ban on the usage and sale of Styrofoam food service products here in St. Vincent, will be implemented on January 31st, 2018.

The ban on the importation of Styrofoam products when into effect May 1st, 2017.

A grace period of 90 days was allowed for any Styrofoam products ordered before May 1, 2017, to be imported, the businesses selling and utilizing Styrofoam food products were given until January 31st, 2018 to dispose of such.

A fine of EC$5,000 and or 12 months in prison will be imposed on anyone found breaching the law after January 31st, 2018.
