As part of activities commemorating World Food Day (WFD) 2026, the WFD Committee visited Bequia Anglican Primary School on 16th September 2026, where they held a theoretical and practical session designed to stimulate youth interest in agriculture.

More than thirty (30) students were engaged in an interactive theoretical session facilitated by Agricultural Instructor Chijiokee Hooper. The session provided students with an introduction to agriculture, with particular emphasis on crop husbandry, school garden preparation and practical techniques.

Following the classroom session, the students moved to their school garden, where they planted trees and seedlings.

World Food Day is observed annually on October 16, and it will be celebrated this year under the theme “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow.” The activity forms part of a month of activities dedicated to commemorating World Food Day. These activities are being spearheaded by the World Food Day Committee.

The Chairman of the Committee is Noel Samuel.
