33 years old Dexter Stowe from Port Elizabeth, Bequia has been slapped with a charge of infringing the prison rules here.
Stowe is accused of approaching McCarter Leach who is currently a prisoner at Her Majesty’s Prison and was at the time being taken to the Kingstown Magistrate Court on Friday March 10th, 2017 and presented to him 15 sticks of cigarette, 28gms of marijuana, and 6gms of high leaf and bamboo wrapping paper which are prohibited by the prisons rules here. This led to his arrest.
When he appeared at the Serious Offences Court the same day before Magistrate Rechanne Browne he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Court Prosecutor Elgin Richards did not object to bail which was allowed in the sum of $5,000.00 with one surety.
Stowe was also ordered to surrender his travel document to the Court, to report to the Port Elizabeth Police Station on Mondays and Thursdays between 6 am and 6 pm and he was placed on a curfew from 7 pm to 6 am daily.
Both Stowe and Leach were also charged for having the marijuana in their possession with intent to supply. Leach pleaded guilty while Stowe maintained his innocence.
The matter was adjourned and transferred to the Bequia Magistrate Court on March 30th, 2017.
