Press Release on the sinking of the M. V. Persia II.
The M.V Persia left Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday 2nd, March 2017 Enroute to Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Approximately 7:15 this morning, the Motor Vessel encountered difficulty approx 8 miles off St. George’s, Grenada. On board were nine crew members.
The boat was captained by Hermogenes Watts of Nicaragua.
The Motor Vessel was unsuccessful on its voyage to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Island wide Shipping is thankful to the Coast Guard of Grenada for saving all the lives of the crew members on board.
Island Wide Shipping is in the process of notifying customers who lost cargo as a result of this unfortunate incident.
The Management and Staff thanks all those who have sent messages, called or visited in this time of sadness. The Office will be closed on Saturday 4th and will reopen on Monday 6th March 2017.

Grenadian media is reporting that the MV Persia II sank after leaving Trinidad.
It has been confirmed that the vessel sank off the coast of Grenada. Reports also state that all crew members are safe, with no reported loss of life.
Persia 2 is a general cargo ship, built in the 1940s and has a gross tonnage of 247 tons and a summer DWT of 410 tons.
