If threats to have advertisements removed from Boom FM becomes a reality, the staff could be left without jobs, and the station could eventually be off the air.

On Monday 1st November, the Host of the OMG morning show, Dwight “Bing” Joseph, said the threats were made because of the opinions expressed by social commentator Jomo Thomas on the show.

Thomas, a COVID-19 survivor, has long held the view that taking a vaccine is a choice everyone should be free to make. His opinions on vaccination and the pandemic, in general, have not sat well with the powers that be.

On Monday, Joseph, who was in an angry mode, told his radio and social media audience of the disturbing development.

“So they would get people to stop advertising because Jomo Thomas has an opinion, really? So if I don’t take off Jomo, nobody must advertise. You all don’t know the battles; the demons am dealing with”, he said.

“You don’t know Mario, as Joseph reacted to one of his on-air personalities; people don’t understand it. Because I don’t take Jomo Thomas off, Boom Fm must not survive”.

“So everyone must sing to the song-sheet of these people or else you cannot survive. Why when Jomo hangs up the phone, you don’t call him, but no, you coming at me and saying that I provide a platform for anti-vaxxers”.

Joseph continued;

“So if I disagree with Jomo’s opinion, does that mean I should kill him, or should it mean that he Jomo should not have a voice”.

“The minute you don’t agree with these people, it becomes a problem. That is how you expect the media to function in this country. I know it’s a serious pandemic, and we get it. I took my vaccine very, very early”, the irate Joseph said.

Joseph said his opinion is Boom Fm’s position, not Jomo’s position, or those who call with a different opinion.

“But no, destroy Boom to get Jomo off the radio; that is the objective”, Joseph said.

Joseph was among the first group of Vincentians who took the vaccine and campaigned tirelessly for vaccination.

Joseph did not state who the persons behind the threats were; however, it seemingly appears that influential forces could be at work based on his statements.

The latest report shows one thousand eight hundred and nineteen (1819) cases are currently active, and sixty-eight (68) persons with COVID-19 have died.

Four thousand and nine hundred and ninety-five (4995) cases of COVID-19 and three thousand and one hundred and eight (3108) recoveries have been recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines since March 2020.

St Vincent and the Grenadines will receive the donation of the COVID-19 vaccine jabs under WHO’s COVAX facility within the upcoming few weeks.
