In a recent interview with SVG TV, Junior “Spirit” Cottle, President of the Cannabis Revival Committee, has expressed his commitment to working collaboratively with the newly formed government, despite previous political differences.
Cottle emphasized that the development of the cannabis industry must transcend political boundaries, prioritizing the sector’s sustainable growth and the livelihoods of those who depend on it. “Our focus is on continuity and progress,” he stated, signaling a pragmatic approach to industry development.
The committee’s immediate priority is to engage directly with traditional cannabis cultivators, many of whom have generations of expertise in the field. Cottle highlighted the significant challenges these farmers continue to face, including market instability, limited financial access, and complex regulatory barriers.
“These farmers are the backbone of our cannabis industry,” Cottle explained. “Any meaningful policy must recognize their experiences and protect their livelihoods as the sector evolves.”
By advocating for an inclusive approach, Cottle aims to bridge potential gaps between government policy and the practical realities of local cannabis cultivators. His willingness to collaborate with the new administration, despite not being a previous supporter of the New Democratic Party, demonstrates a commitment to the industry’s broader economic potential.
The Cannabis Revival Committee’s strategy appears focused on creating a regulated, sustainable cannabis sector that supports both traditional farmers and emerging industry opportunities.
