The government is moving ahead with plans to commence a River Defense Project at Caratal, Georgetown. The project would cost 1.19 Million EC dollars, this according to Chief Engineer Brent Bailey.
Bailey who recently spoke to News784 said the project is expected to begin in June 2017.
The Chief Engineer stated that they are currently doing an extensive River defence project in the community of Lauders along the Union River.
The Union River protection which is being built at the cost of over 2 million EC Dollars, was contracted to Hutchinson Construction.
The work is ongoing in the vicinity of the WINFRESH Factory in lauders and will continue downstream.
