“I join with the Caribbean Community, in extending best wishes to the Government and People of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the country’s continued advancement and well-being”, said CARICOM’S Secretary-General Dr Carla Barnett as she congratulated the Government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the 42nd anniversary of the country’s independence on October 27.
Dr Barnett said the resilience displayed by St. Vincent and the Grenadines in dealing with the recent traumatic volcanic eruption while having to confront the COVID-19 pandemic shows the strength of character of St Vincentians.
Dr Barnett’s Independence Day message to St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said CARICOM was proud of St Vincent being elected to the United Nations Security Council and of the leadership exercised during its presidency.
Dr Barnett said CARICOM has benefitted greatly from St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ invaluable contribution in fostering regional integration.
