Brian Mayers, a resident of Chateaubelair, was charged in St Lucia today with possession of a controlled drug and possession with intent to supply.
He was charged along with a Dominican national both of whom were arrested by St Lucian police last Friday night.
On Monday St Lucian Drug Squad office in a telephone conversation with News784 confirmed Mayers was arrested and awaiting legal representation.
The drug bust at sea which netted 1,012 pounds of marijuana, has an estimated street value of 500,000 EC Dollars.
Mayers was on board a two-engine vessel which was intercepted by police at around 9 pm on Friday night, about 2.5 nautical miles off Vieux Fort.
The Dominican national who was also on board the vessel was shot in the shoulder by police.
Both men have been remanded at the Bordelais Correctional Facility and are scheduled to return to court on September 9, 2017.
