Citizens urged to be prepared in the event of a prolonged dry season

1 Min Read

Public Relations and Marketing Manager at the (CWSA) Central Water and Sewerage Authority Joan Ryan,  is advising citizens and institutions to be prepared in the event there is a prolonged dry season this year.

During the dry season (February to June), there will often be weeks of clear sunny weather broken only by an occasional small rain shower.

Miss Ryan, who was speaking on NBC’s  ‘Face to Face’ programme reiterated the significance of adequate storage, in the event of a water shortage, especially at institutions such as Health Centres and Schools.

“ One of the things we at the CWSA have noticed  is that some of these institutions are still without enough storage,  and we are  calling on the agencies now to  ensure that  this is dealt with soonest as to avert any unfortunate situations”

Due to climate, a number of Caribbean countries have been experiencing a longer dry season which has led to a reduction in the supply of water, including drinking water, to homes, communities and businesses.
