Cluster of associated groupings committing acts of crime

1 Min Read

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves believes that a cluster of associated groupings is the ones mainly committing acts of crime in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Dr Gonsalves said he is pleased that the homicide rate for this year is low so far, with just one murder committed this year to date, compared to last year’s 40 homicides, which was the highest in many years.

He, however, said he would not describe these associated groupings as solidly organised gangs with an internal coherence and commonality of action as there are in other countries.

Gonsalves added that although most of the serious offences are being committed by young males, the majority of males in this country are law abiding.

He called on these persons to give more guidance to young males across the country.
