Construction Work Commences On US 65Million Black Sands Resort

Construction work on the US 65Million dollar BlackSands Resorts at Mt Wynne/ Peters Hope in St Vincent has begun.

The resort which will boost some 250 rooms has employed an all local workforce from the surrounding Central Leeward communities.

 In 2017 Joseph Romano of Pace Development had stated on Boom FM that developers were going to favour residents of the surrounding communities because of access to the land.

In December of 2017 designs for the project were submitted to planning, in February of 2018 Minister of Finance Camilo Gonsalves said that the project had already received planning permission for the first phase.

The project consists of 40 villas, totalling 160 rooms, and a 200-room hotel.

The 40 villas according to the latest update on the project will be completed in the third quarter of 2019, while the resort’s completion is expected by the fourth quarter of 2020.

All professionals attached to the project are local and include Lawyers, Architects and Engineers.

Post-construction, the Resort is anticipated to employ 300 Vincentians when it is fully operational.

Further hotel development is expected in the area with the construction of a hotel by the St Vincent government.

Prime Minister Gonsalves on Tuesday 13th June said $50 Million was secured from Taiwan for the project.

Physical works are expected to begin in the first quester of 2019.”

Gonsalves said combined hotel development in the Mt Wynne/ Peters Hope communities will amount to $115 Million USD or EC 310 Million.
