Consul General Huggins: "Workers Should Be Encouraged To Join Unions"

1 Min Read

As the ongoing saga between Buccament Resort workers and management continues over nonpayment of salaries for 3 months, St Vincent Consul General to Canada voiced his concern on the issue  via a Facebook posting.

Fitz Huggins St Vincent Consul General to Canada said that workers should be encouraged to join unions and then pressure their union bosses to work on their behalf.

“The problem in SVG is that too many employers are suppressing the unions. A government can’t suppress unions”. If the union leaders find themselves in the government pockets then the workers have the ultimate power to get rid of them.

Huggins further stated,  “If the union leaders find themselves in the government pockets then the workers have the ultimate power to get rid of them”.

“The power of the majority must be respected always”,  Consul General Huggins lamented.
