- Community consultation, public lecture series for North Leeward
Communities in North Leeward will benefit from a series of public consultations outlining development projects aimed at promoting rural and economic change.
The first in a series of community consultations will take place on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Spring Village Methodist School.
The community will hear presentations on agriculture and rural transformation from Hon. Saboto Caesar, parliament representative for North Leeward, and Hon. Carlos James, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development, and Culture, who will address sustainable development initiatives, training, and employment, and community activist Ian Alexis, who will address community development issues. Other public stakeholders will speak at the meeting, including representatives from the Roads, Buildings, and General Services Authority (BRAGSA).
According to Hon. Carlos James, MP for North Leeward, the series of public engagements will provide a platform for community discussion on development issues in a broader and holistic manner, including opportunities for training and employment, while enhancing the level of civil discourse on constituency-specific issues.
“We intend to involve as many stakeholders as possible from every community in North Leeward.” According to Minister James, the exercise would result in the establishment of many programmes aimed at improving communities and individuals throughout North Leeward.
Other guest speakers are expected to be added to the panel when community consultations take place.
