What is probably the first philosophical book written by a Vincentian was recently released and is now available to the public. “Living in Wisdom – an examination of human,” the latest literary work by Vincentian diplomat and author, Dr. Richard A. Byron-Cox has been welcomed by reviewers as another piece of superb writing from an eloquent pen. The Vincentian writer is again being described as a master of his craft  by reviewers from a far apart as England to Ghana, and Guyana to Jamaica. These include James Schnider, former Head of Communications for British Labour Party Leader Geremy Cobin, who postulates that this latest offering by the Vincentian international law and relations specialist, “brought to my mind Immanuel Kant’s Kingdom of Ends. It’s a rich and inspiring work — full of wisdom to sit with, return to, and argue with”

Alain Retiere, a French agroecologist and climate change expert in his review enquires of Byron-Cox, “What course of live and experiences brought you to the conclusions you share on so many compartments of life and human soul,” while Guatemalan poet Ahmid Daccarett declares, “What Richard A. Byron Cox offers here is more than a collection of thoughts: it is an invitation to those willing to go deeper into mind, reason, and humanity itself. His teachings will surely endure, not as mere words, but as seeds that awaken courage, humility, and a longing for justice in all who are ready to listen.”

Byron-Cox who worked with the United Nations for more than a quarter century in various capacities, resigning in 2023 to pursue writing full time, says that he is all but overwhelmed with the reviewers responses to his latest work. He explained that it is a philosophical treatise written in layman language and is therefore accessible to all, a feature praised by many reviewers of the work. The author also advised that this is the first philosophy book which is total interactive providing a space for readers to expressed their views and thoughts on every idea shared in the book.

The Vincentian linguist and former university professor says that his main reason for writing this book was to encourage people to examine their living, to ask salient questions: Am I achieving and being the best that I can be? Am I living the examined life? The reviewers all agree that the writer have achieved his goal with Ghanaian economist,  Dr. R. Mawuli Coffie declaring “The structure of the book, with its concise nuggets of wisdom and space for personal reflections, provides a powerful tool for today’s busy reader, invites moments of pause, and self-reflection, invaluable for personal growth and resilience.”

Byron-Cox who has been designated an SVG Cultural Ambassador, further says that his writings are among other things, an expression of his profound appreciation for the people, society, and culture that shaped him. He sees his writings as a vehicle, taking the valiant Vincentian story to the world. The author of critically aimed works “Were Mama’s Tears in Vain?” and “The Story of Paulene” assures the Vincentian public that “Living in wisdom – an examination of human nature” is a book for everyone serious about their living, anyone who want to sail, not just drift through life.

The author advises that there will be an official launch of this latest work soon which will include a book signing. In the meantime Living in wisdom – an examination of human nature can be purchased on Amazon and will soon be available at local book stores.
