St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Terrance Drew described his meeting with St Vincent Prime Minister Godwin Friday” as a “very very fruitful” and an engagement characterized by warmth and mutual respect.
Drew expressed gratitude for Friday’s “excellent hospitality,” noting that he and the CARICOM Secretary-General were received with “open arms” and a level of respect that established a positive environment for “meaningful discussions”. He also noted that Friday graciously gave him “first preference” to speak as the guest.
PM Drew characterized Friday as a leader who “believes in the regional integration movement”. This shared belief facilitated detailed discussions on how to strengthen the CARICOM movement by addressing both its challenges and the opportunities derived from them.
The leaders covered a wide array of regional matters, specifically discussing “health and trade and business and move of people” as well as geopolitics.
Drew framed the visit as part of a broader effort to “firm up our relationship” and strengthen CARICOM ahead of the organization’s 50th meeting in St. Kitts.
