On Monday December 29, 2025, Nutritionist within the Animal Health and Production Division (AHPD) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Nicole Timm, provided an update of a Feed Trial.
This activity was conducted at the Dumbarton Agricultural Station, and focused focused on feed formulated from conch trimmings supplied by Rainforest Seafood Ltd.
The objective of the trial was to determine the inclusion level of lactic acid of conch trimmings for pig feed.
Three inclusion levels: 20%, 30% and 40%, were tested on weaner pigs over a five-week period and based on Dr. Timm’s observations, the 20% and 30% inclusion levels resulted in better performance compared to the 40% concentration.
The findings of this trial will contribute valuable data to support the development of improved livestock feeding practices as an enhancement of the agricultural sector.
