The elderly in St Vincent and the Grenadines are being assisted by the Zero Hunger Trust Fund this Christmas season.
Some 400 hundred persons would be assisted island wide, last year persons were given food baskets by the fund.
Individuals would receive a 200 hundred dollar voucher, to be used at various stores and supermarkets to purchase items.
A number of civic groups and organizations are also holding Christmas lunches for the elderly across the state.
The elderly (persons 60 years of age and older) amount to 12.6 percent of the population and represent a doubling of the elderly population over the last 40 years.
